RACHEL WYATT - Primary School teach...

RACHEL WYATT-Primary School teacher

Fully qualified Primary School Teacher with QTS EDUCATION
I am a fully qualified Primary School Teacher with a PGCE. I have over 10 years of classroom teaching  experience.  I have been teaching 1-2-1 over seven years in my local infant school, firstly with a Year 1/2 maths intervention before moving to Reading Recovery. I completed my Reading Recovery training year in June 2015 at UCL. Rachel stayed at home for several years to bring up her family and returned to work in school in 2008. In addition to classroom teaching, i have also been doing some tuition from my home – all online via video link since the start of the pandemic. My specialist area is Key Stage one, although i also have experience tutoring Key Stage Two children who are struggling with reading and writing and had additional learning needs. I encourage engagement in my lessons and wish to provide a space where students feel comfortable to ask questions or say they are unsure. Through continual praise and encouragement, I am well suited to be able to help students that are anxious or cannot grasp areas of their subjects. I provide a plan of action for going forward and keep parents consulted on their child’s progress. I am also happy to set homework questions to build upon the skills covered in the lessons and will mark and give feedback on any work completed. I am a mum to three grown up sons, the youngest of which is studying for his A levels whilst the oldest is focusing on completing a degree in Architecture. One of her sons has high functioning Autism with additional needs, meaning she has a lot of personal experience in helping children who are on the spectrum and may require a different approach to their education. I have always loved reading and enjoys being able to pass on this skill to the next generation. In recent years I attended some overseas volunteer projects in the school holidays to help children there develop their English language skills, enhancing their employment opportunities for the future. I very much enjoying teaching online and is finding it to be an exciting new way to educate young people. The platforms I use to teach online are Zoom and Microsoft teams. The ability to experience each student’s progress at every stage is incredibly rewarding and a wonderful part of my role as a tutor. I look forward to teaching your son/daughter!

Dr Charles Dominic-Mathematics

Fully Qualified Mathematics Teacher / Lecturer
I’m a highly experienced mathematics teacher and have excellent subject knowledge. I’m friendly and get excellent results through building good relationships with my students. I have a Ph.D. in Mathematics & have enjoyed teaching to share my knowledge with those who need it. I teach Mathematics at Universities, High Schools and Colleges. I was a Fixed Term Teacher at the Department of Mathematical Sciences, University of Essex, U.K. My research area includes graph colorings, cop-robber games in graphs, and the zero forcing number of a graph. I have 10 years of teaching experience, 2 years of post-doctoral experience and 8 years of research experience. I always pay attention to my students’ needs and teach them taking their experience into consideration to make the learning meaningful. If someone is looking for tuition to prepare themselves for exams, then my key focus is always exam-style questions and how to answer them to maximize scores and manage time and prioritize questions during the exam. Finally, but not least, not surprisingly, I have found student's appreciation very rewarding. It is important, as a teacher, to keep an open mind and to approach the students in whatever way speaks to them. Moreover, listening and understanding students are important. I love to teach and I am always looking for new and more advanced techniques for developing the talents of my students to think outside the spoon-feeding and become good citizens.

Beth Hill - Primary School Teach...

Beth Hill-Primary School Teacher

Fully qualified Primary School Teacher with QTS
I am a fully qualified primary school tutor with a wealth of knowledge behind me. I hold a bachelor’s degree in Primary Education from University of Derby. I have had experience working in Primary Schools for almost two years now, working with children with SEND and SEMH difficulties as well as other children to help them achieve their full academic potential. I have delivered 1:1 and small group based interventions in age ranges from 4 years old in their early years all the way up to 11 in the run up to SATs. I have spent a lot of time working with children who had the academic level of several years below their age group however after sometime of 1:1 intervention they have thrived and caught up with their peers. Not only have I worked with children for their academics but I have also worked with children to help give them the opportunity to learn self regulation and mental health support. This has come from a wide range of support programmes such as zones of regulation and social detective. I pride myself on how fun and engaging I like to make my time with children and with how much of a difference emotion coaching can make to their lives. In the run up to SATS I worked in delivering intervention based lessons to our cusp students to help them go on to achieve greater depth in their SATs but also to help children who believed they couldn’t do their SATs. I tailor resources to each student’s needs. My teaching style is a supportive one where students are motivated to attempt learning tasks and become confident enough to tackle challenging ones. I strive to inspire in children a growth mindset where they aim to be the best that they can be as this will help them in the long term. I enjoy forming positive learning relationships with students and providing them with what they need in order to succeed.
