I use scientifically-backed techniques such as active recall in my 'Spaced Retrieval' exercises to strengthen long-term memory  to ensure the student is prepared for the exam, yet also develops life-long skills. Alongside this, application questions and knowledge recall feature heavily in my lessons, to the student's request. This is despite self studying Chemsitry (which I am now studying at University)
