I am a fully qualified English Language & Literature teacher. I completed my Secondary English PGCE with University of Wolverhampton and i am currently teaching English in a secondary school in Birmingham.  I have also taught English as a private tutor to children of all ages and adults. I have experience teaching GCSE and KS3 Secondary Schools.

For primary School children (KS1 & KS2), i teach both Maths and English. I have experience teaching both the National curriculum and 11+ curriculum. I have taught students at all ages from 5 -15 in mainstream schools and have also prepared students for 11+ Entry Exams (Verbal and Non-Verbal Reasoning).

I’m friendly, easy going and get excellent results through building good relationships with my students. I have an informal approach to lessons that I adapt to the individual need of each student.

I am passionate about discussion in the subjects I teach to build confidence in my students, but similarly enjoy the process of trading ideas that helps to provide a fresh perspective to my own academic work!

I encourage engagement in my lessons and wish to provide a space where students feel comfortable to ask questions or say they are unsure.

Through continual praise and encouragement, I am well suited to be able to help students that are anxious or cannot grasp areas of their subjects. I provide a plan of action for going forward and keep parents consulted on their child’s progress.

I am also happy to set homework questions to build upon the skills covered in the lessons and will mark and give feedback on any work completed.

The platforms I use to teach online are Microsoft teams, Zoom and Google Meet

The ability to experience each student’s progress at every stage is incredibly rewarding and a wonderful part of my role as a tutor. I look forward to teaching your son/daughter!

Aisha took her on and her teaching style was perfect in building up my daughter's confidence, so much so she went from Grade 3 to achieving Grade 8 in all 3 Science subjects. Allow me to thank Sue Schulkins for the wonderful work she has done with our son’s English classes. We have seen our son’s interest grow as the sessions have progressed. Before Sue started out with him - I noticed she gathered as much information as she could and she listened to us and even adopted some of our methods. She improved on them and added her own unique creativity. She was very unlike some teachers who would insist on using their own method - she never did that. She was able to find out from our son his expectations and discovered he loves unusually funny narratives. She incorporated this into her curriculum and we have seen such a marked improvement in his English comprehension. He is having fun during the English sessions and his work has improved. He is attentive and focused. Sue Schulkins is certainly a different kind of teacher and we are very happy with her work. Well done Sue.

My son worked with Katie Jackson for his GCSE Combined Science ( Biology, Chemistry, and Physics) and it made a real difference.
