I’m a highly experienced English Language & Literature, History and Science tutor and have thorough subject and exam knowledge. I also teach Business Studies, Psychology and IT. I’m friendly, easy going and have had excellent results by building good relationships with my students. 

 I have a 2:1 Bachelors degree in History with a first class mark in my dissertation from the University of Durham. My degree certificate and full academic transcript is available upon request. Studying the Humanities improves your ability to analyse, strengthens your communication skills, and expands your ability to think critically.

These are all key skills that students need in order to excel in their academic and professional careers. I can prepare students for both university life and the world of work through my tutoring sessions. By tailoring my tutoring sessions to each individual student, I put the needs of the student first.

I can work with the student on content knowledge, exam technique, and/or certain areas that they are struggling with. Overall, I aim to create a relaxing, interesting, and fun environment in my tutoring sessions, within which students can learn to the best of their abilities, free of the pressure of the classroom.

I am a patient tutor with an informal approach to lessons that I adapt to the individual need of each student. I am passionate about discussion in the subjects I teach to build confidence in my students, but similarly enjoy the process of trading ideas that helps to provide a fresh perspective to my own academic work!

I encourage engagement in my lessons and wish to provide a space where students feel comfortable to ask questions or say they are unsure. Through continual praise and encouragement, I am well suited to be able to help students that are anxious or cannot grasp areas of their subjects. I provide a plan of action for going forward and keep parents consulted on their child’s progress. I am also happy to set homework questions to build upon the skills covered in the lessons and will mark and give feedback on any work completed.

The platforms I use to teach online are Zoom and Microsoft teams.

The ability to experience each student’s progress at every stage is incredibly rewarding and a wonderful part of my role as a tutor.

My Daughter was Tutored by Aisha (Science Tutor), whose been amazing. Initially she had little or no confidence in her ability to achieve GCSE level and had lost interest in the subjects. Aisha took her on and her teaching style was perfect in building up my daughter's confidence, so much so she went from Grade 3 to achieving Grade 8 in all 3 Science subjects. Aisha was patient, compassionate, flexible in adapting her teaching style and pace to suit my daughter's needs. Allow me to thank Sue Schulkins for the wonderful work she has done with our son’s English classes. We have seen our son’s interest grow as the sessions have progressed. Before Sue started out with him - I noticed she gathered as much information as she could and she listened to us and even adopted some of our methods. She improved on them and added her own unique creativity. She was very unlike some teachers who would insist on using their own method - she never did that. She was able to find out from our son his expectations and discovered he loves unusually funny narratives. She incorporated this into her curriculum and we have seen such a marked improvement in his English comprehension. He is having fun during the English sessions and his work has improved. He is attentive and focused. Sue Schulkins is certainly a different kind of teacher and we are very happy with her work. Well done Sue.
