I am a highly experienced & qualified English Language & Literature teacher and have thorough subject and exam knowledge. Not only do I have an Honours degree in English but I also have been a class teacher and tutor for over 14 years. I have an MA 2:1 in English and Comparative Literature from University of Glasgow and a PGDE in English Moreover, as well as having in depth experience of teaching all English courses, I am also an SQA marker.

To date, I have marked every aspect of both N5, Higher and Advanced Higher English. This gives me a clear advantage over any other tutor as I know exactly what the SQA are looking for and am able to use this knowledge as a basis for all tutoring I do. As well as robust knowledge and understanding, I also ensure I am approachable and empathetic in attitude.

I am her to help and do all I can to boost self esteem and help young people reach their potential. I can guarantee that if I am your tutor you will feel heard and understood. As stated, my philosophy is that I am here to help - not hinder. I am a patient tutor and create lessons to the individual needs of each student.

I endevour to create a safe space where students can enage with the conents, offer opinoins and ask questions. Parents are contacted frequnetly as I will provide updates about the child's progress to ensure they suceed. I was also the Head of Literacy some years ago and as such have knowledge and understanding of helping pupils who struggle with their Literacy.

The ability to experience each student’s progress at every stage is incredibly rewarding and a wonderful part of my role as a tutor.

My Daughter was Tutored by Aisha (Science Tutor), whose been amazing. Initially she had little or no confidence in her ability to achieve GCSE level and had lost interest in the subjects. Aisha took her on and her teaching style was perfect in building up my daughter's confidence, so much so she went from Grade 3 to achieving Grade 8 in all 3 Science subjects. Aisha was patient, compassionate, flexible in adapting her teaching style and pace to suit my daughter's needs. She's very skilled in breaking down the subjects to student level so they can grasp the concepts whilst maintaining their interests. Allow me to thank Sue Schulkins for the wonderful work she has done with our son’s English classes. We have seen our son’s interest grow as the sessions have progressed. Before Sue started out with him - I noticed she gathered as much information as she could and she listened to us and even adopted some of our methods. She improved on them and added her own unique creativity. She was very unlike some teachers who would insist on using their own method - she never did that. She was able to find out from our son his expectations and discovered he loves unusually funny narratives. She incorporated this into her curriculum and we have seen such a marked improvement in his English comprehension. He is having fun during the English sessions and his work has improved. He is attentive and focused. Sue Schulkins is certainly a different kind of teacher and we are very happy with her work. Well done Sue.

My son worked with Katie Jackson for his GCSE Combined Science ( Biology, Chemistry, and Physics) and it made a real difference. The lessons were engaging and helped him get much more confident with tricky topics and exam-style questions.
