I’m a highly qualified and experienced Economics & Politics teacher and have thorough subject and exam knowledge. I’m friendly, easy going and have had excellent results by building good relationships with my students. I have taught Economics and Politics for many years at a leading independent school and perhaps more importantly, have a great deal of A-level marking and tutoring experience. I am Head of Department and have been Principal Examiner for many years in Politics and Assistant Examiner for Economics. I have been published in various journals and prepare my own resources for A level classes. I am frequently invited to speak at A level conferences and other schools. I have had special responsibility for Oxbridge and university applications and so can also assist with preparation of personal statements, interviews and assessment tests. I consider myself to be an empathetic and patient teacher who is always willing to cater to the needs of the individual student. I am a good communicator and am able to explain complex issues in ways which allow students to develop the key skills needed for exam success. I like to bring all my examining and teaching experience into play when tutoring as I believe the end game is fairly obvious in that my tutees want exam success. To that end I tailor lessons to the needs of the student in identifying areas of concern and weakness and advising on how to overcome these. I am able to bring extra materials to classes, written to suit the demands of the new A-levels and to give the students that edge that might improve grade performance. Previous tutees have improved upon their expected grade performance. The ability to experience each student’s progress at every stage is incredibly rewarding and a wonderful part of my role as a tutor. I look forward to teaching your son / daughter!

I have worked in a number of schools across Doncaster, typically working as a 1:1 tutor and SEN support roles. This has enabled me to develop my teaching skill set and has allowed me to adapt my skills to a wide range of pupil needs. My responsibilities included liaising with class teachers to adapt lesson plans for children with additional needs, this has enabled me to develop my lesson planning abilities on a 1:1 basis. I have experience with a number of different additional needs, including ADHD, Autism, Dyslexia and challenging behaviour. I have experience with online tutoring, I currently tutor three children on a weekly basis to help them build their skills and to catch up with their peers. Having experience with private tutoring has given me the opportunity to develop lesson plans and also develop a system of assessment to gauge where my tutees are and to keep track of the progress that they make. I follow the national curriculum during my tutoring sessions so that my lessons sync with what my tutees are learning at school.
